Aha! Forced reboot got ‘em all working again. Unfortunately, when I updated FileMagnet, the files it had stored were lost.
a warm gun is the personal web site of multimedia artist and resident geek Ian Adams, based out of Seattle, WA. This particular page shows all posts from July, 2008.
The most recently posted stuff can be found on the front page. Older posts and articles are listed, by category and date, in the archives. There is also the Link Blog, which is my (almost) daily list of interesting links and brief commentary on AWG-related topics.
Additional areas on this site can be accessed by using the navigation links on the far left. (Or far bottom if you’re visiting this site using an alternative browser like Opera Mini.)

@jasonsantamaria Third option: spill water on the rest of you and tell people you did it to cool down because it’s so hot out today.
Installed an update for an app and now it starts up now. Only one bar on EDGE here, though, so fixing this will have to wait for London.
Well this sucks: I get to New York, reboot the iPhone, and suddenly ALL App Store apps crash on startup.
I didn’t end up getting any sleep on the train to Portland. I sat next to a World War II veteran and we chatted all the way down. Very nice guy, and a really interesting conversation. For my trip I brought an army book from the war that has info about every country and uniforms, insignia, etc. He told me what the stories were behind all of the various division insignia, and some of them were pretty funny.
I arrived at Union Station in Portland and walked a few blocks to Jon’s friend Andy’s place. Had a couple beers and watched Futurama, then promptly fell asleep.
Alas, it was only for a few hours; I woke up at 3:30am and took a shower, then rn downstairs. The nice part was that he lived across the street from a MAX station that took me straight to the airport.
I walked up to the Delta check-in centre and tried using one of the self-service kiosks, but it couldn’t find my reservation, so I had to wait in line at the full service desks.
When I walked up, the lady behind the counter found my reservation with mo problems. And then—in a nice bit of serendipity—she changed my flight to a nonstop trip that will get me to New York by 2:30, which will give me plenty of time to check in for my 7:45pm flight, which I’m now going to board.
So my ride to Portland flaked out on me, and now I’m waiting on the last train to Portland. Listening to Kyle the bistro car guy over the loudspeaker cracking lame jokes that I can’t help but laugh at.
The train was expensive. A last-minute ticket cost me $50, which is rather painful since that means it’s £100 less that I’ll have in England. Still, it’s better than missing out on my entire vacation and losing all the money I spent on train tickets, so I can’t complain too much.
At this point I’m thinking that it may just be better to go straight to the airport once I get to Portland, and avoid altogether the possibility of missing my flight.
I’m completely exhausted, and I’ve still got a long trip ahead of me, so I’m going to take advantage of the 3 or so hours of sleep I will try to eke out.
Sorting out my iPod playlist for the trip, which includes finally getting around to importing some CDs I’ve been putting off for years.
Plane tickets home from Germany: check. UK And Belgium SIM cards for iPhone: check. Not much longer now…
@jasonsantamaria I really liked it, but I also read the prequel comics. I went to see it with friends who hadn’t, and they didn’t like it.
Just finished testing out the Belgian SIM card in my newly-unlocked iPhone. Very happy that it works.
I’ve broken the bank to do it, but all purchasing for the upcoming trip to Europe is now complete. Now I have to survive 2 weeks on ramen.
WTF, Apple? Why add .org and .edu to the iPhone keyboard’s .com button but not .net?
At a bar watching 10,000 B.C. And wondering why there’s a multi-racial cast in the ice age.
Dear readers: next time you notice 80% of the posts on my site broken, can you maybe let me know?
Christ, that was a torrential downpour! I don’t think it even rained that hard during the winter.
OH: “I was in Lafayette last week and at 9pm and it started raining, and the rain was 90 degrees. Warm enough to take a shower outside in.
