I absolutely agree with MacDailyNews’ take on the matter. The home cinema experience has been improving so much in recent years that in many cases it eclipses the experience at a theatre. Going out to see a movie has been harder and harder to justify, especially with increasing prices. Some people do care about it, sure, but the simple fact of the matter is that people who seriously care about movies will go out and get those 60-inch HDTVs, and the cripplingly good surround sound systems, and will end up with a much more pleasant experience than they’d get when going out to the cinema.
