RSS Newsfeeds
What’s this about?
Well, for your convenience, this site is available as a syndicated RSS 2.0 Feed. If you’re unfamiliar with newsfeeds, they’re actually really simple. (Hence the term “Really Simple Syndication.”) Basically, this allows you to bookmark a web page that specifically exists to be notified of updates to this site. These bookmarks are collected in an application known as a “news aggregator”. Many are available, including Nick Bradbury’s FeedDemon for Windows or Ranchero Software’s NetNewsWire for Mac OS X. Most modern browsers have news aggregators built-in. For example, if you’re using Mac OS X you can use Safari to read all your RSS feeds right in your web browser. Firefox has RSS feeds built-in via what it calls Live Bookmarks. For more information on newsfeeds, I recommend reading Mezzoblue’s article, What is RSS/XML/Atom/Syndication?
Okay, so where are they?
There are currently two feeds available for your viewing pleasure. One is for the main content of a warm gun and the other is specific to the link blog. The links to these feeds are provided below.
- a warm gun (Validate this feed.)
- link blog (Validate this feed.)
How are they made?
The newsfeeds, like everything else on this site, used to be put together “by hand”, meaning no special tools were used beyond a simple text editor. For more information on how this was done, check out Danny Sullivan’s tutorial. However, the feeds are now generated automatically by WordPress.
